New Farm Apartment

NOT JUST BLACK-AND-WHITE

The general floor plan of this early 1990s apartment was appealing, however the bathrooms and kitchen were dated and unpragmatic. The brief was to refurbish the two bathrooms and to modernise and open up the kitchen to bring the light in.

The bathrooms were completely gutted, rearranged and tiled in black. The concrete tile floor is accentuated by the concrete Caesarstone benchtop in the kitchen. While the white cupboard fronts catch and reflect the incoming daylight, the black side elements provide a stark contrast. The cool grey, black and white theme is softened by a beautiful, subtle light at night. Last but not least, the artworks on the walls introduce colours and vividness into the palette.
