Munich Apartment

GOOD INTERIOR DESIGN DOES NOT REQUIRE LARGE SPACES

This one-bedroom dwelling is part of a new inner city apartment complex. The owner’s passion for and work in the mining industry inspired the design theme. Jet black (recalling coal) and red-orange (recalling fire and glowing embers) comprise the palette and accents alongside natural colours and clean whites.

The charred walls of the entry foyer evoke a secretive, mysterious mine shaft. Precious chunks of rocks and glittering specimens from the owner’s collection are displayed on glass shelves illuminated with LED lights. In the bedroom, the built-in wardrobe with sliding doors covered with wire mesh is reminiscent of miners’ lockers.
